Issue 1 : What measures should be taken to guarantee the security of small island states against rising sea levels?

This is a constantly increasing phenomenon that is also exacerbated by global warming. Three countries on the committee were small island states: Kiribati, Fiji, and the Maldives. The challenge of the debates was to find effective solutions to both maximize the resilience of these countries in the face of the danger posed by rising sea levels and reduce the harmful impacts of global warming.

Resolution : The resolution focuses primarily on ways of increasing the resilience of small island states by increasing funding to help these states develop infrastructure, setting up natural barriers against rising sea levels, etc. Initially, education was a dimension considered in the resolution, but Kiribati and the DRC felt that these measures were ineffective and inappropriate for providing a rapid response to the problem caused by rising sea levels on small island states. The resolution therefore focuses more on material and financial aid.

Issue 2 : How can the drying up and pollution of the world’s great lakes and rivers be curbed? This is currently a major global challenge, as climate change and human activity are negatively impacting the quality of these crucial freshwater reservoirs around the world.

Resolution : Every nation in our committee actively took steps toward improving the situation. This was demonstrated through the many amendments and clauses debated during the conference, as well as the delegates’ willingness to participate. Effective measures were therefore implemented throughout the debates. The committee proposed the establishment of a Global Water Resource Fund to assist developing countries with the freshwater crisis. Cooperation, whether in public or private sectors, was also an integral part of the final resolution. However, although the nations agreed on the necessity of combating the issue, the methods of doing so were less universally accepted due to economic or cultural differences. This led to many clauses being struck during the debates until all nations reached a consensus. Finally, the resolution was voted on by the entire committee, which again demonstrates the universality of the problem.
